The Stroudsburg Area Map Room Project
The Stroudsburg Area Map Room Project, inspired by the OCR’s St. Louis Map Room Project, is an experiment in mapping as a source of community engagement. Thirty diverse groups from the East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg area will be invited to participate in this project. This process will provide a picture into how different groups interpret their hometown and how their description of the area might be a reflection of their individual and collective interactions within the spaces.
Each group will use the above image to create one 10′ x 10′ map on canvas using various materials. These interpretive maps will highlight areas of significance. Routes will be charted, places long since forgotten will be remembered and areas for future exploration will be revealed.
